Techloc Interlocking Tile Installation Guidelines
The principle benefits of the TechLoc interlocking tile system is the
speed and ease of installation.
The industrial or commercial interlocking tiles can be laid over any hard surface even if it is damp, uneven or contaminated with oil, grease etc. You do not need any floor laying experience as the tiles are just hammered together using a rubber mallet or engineering hammer.
Cut the tiles up to walls or fixed points using either a Stanley knife (we recommend using a concave blade), a table saw or jigsaw preferably with a coarse wood blade.
The following 9 stage process should ensure
trouble free installation of your interlocking tiles.
- 1. Remove as much free standing equipment from the work area as possible.
- 2. Sweep the floor to remove any debris.
- 3. Fill in any significant cracks or holes but don't worry about the floor being uneven as the
tiles will follow the contours of the floor. - 4. Start installation as close to the center of the room as possible. If you want to use ramps in a doorway simply lay a line of tiles from the center of the floor to the door and adjust the starting point to allow the ramp to sit in the desired finishing position.
- 5. Lay the tiles working out from the center of the room in a circular fashion towards the walls.
- 6. Once all the full sized tiles have been fitted allow the tiles to settle for 12 to 24 hours before cutting the tiles up to the walls. This is not essential but will help ensure that you leave a large enough expansion gap.
- 7. Cut the tiles up against the wall or fixed point leaving at least a 5mm expansion gap.
- 8. If required the expansion gap can be covered with our PVC skirting or filled in with a flexible polyurethane mastic.
- 9. Your technical or commercial floor is complete and ready to use!
